Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006, marks the birth of a new vision… a new church… a new hope… as the Community of Hope African Methodist Episcopal church opens its doors for worship in Temple Hills, Maryland. The Community of Hope A.M.E. church builds its foundation on biblical principles and innovatively reaches out to offer godly alternatives to empower all people. With the church property initially closed for renovations, a prominent urban landmark, The Legend, will be forever linked to the launch and history of the Community of Hope A.M.E. church as the venue of its first worship services on Resurrection Day 2006!
Rev. Tony Lee is the Senior Pastor, visionary and founder of the Community of Hope A.M.E. Church, established by permission of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and its leadership, namely, Bishop Adam J. Richardson, Jr., Presiding Prelate, 2nd Episcopal District and Rev. Louis-Charles Harvey, Ph.D., Presiding Elder, Potomac District. Rev. Lee continues to enjoy the blessings, mentorship and support of his parents in ministry, Rev. Dr. Grainger Browning, Jr. and Rev. Dr. Jo Ann Browning, Pastors of the Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Ft. Washington, Maryland, where he served in ministry for several years prior to his calling to build Community of Hope and The Hope Nation.
